Here is where you can see how far Jessica is on her next book and how close it is to being completed and thus, in your hands.

The next book is entitled: The Call of Destiny.

Book One has more than 82,000 words.

On July 20th, 2008, Book Two was approximately at 74,000 words. On November 23rd, 2008 it was around 99,000, and on Febuary 20th, 2009 it was just over 112,000 words.

As of June 14th, 2009 The Call of Destiny is completely written with just over 113,000 words!!! Jessica is now just eagerly waiting for her proofreaders to get back to her so she can make the necessary edits. In the mean time, she is currently working on the illustrations and has roughly six left to do.

This is all of the information she has released concerning Book Two, except for the image to the left, which is a little something for the next book, and the passage below:

            A trail of dust.

They looked beyond it and could make out something more, all the while urging their pterippi to run faster, their wings occasionally giving them a burst of speed. They could make out a running figure, moving faster than what was thought possible for someone on just their two legs. The figure was a black mass, its outline somehow becoming less defined the further and further it went.

Christopher caught a look from his Rahm and instantly knew what he was going to do and followed his lead. Both Soos and Jet opened up their wings and a moment later they were in the air, swooping over, just behind the form.

“Heeeeelllllp!” a small voice rang out, igniting a newly found fury within their pterippi and making them fly even faster toward the child.

But it was no use. The mass of darkness just went faster.

They pushed their partners further, and for a moment it seemed that they were gaining on the large black form, but suddenly . . . it was gone.

There was no longer even a trail of dust. Even in the darkness one could see that the earth was not disturbed. It was as if whatever, or whoever, they had been pursuing simply disappeared.

They continued forward anyway, until Van brought Soos down, landing a few feet from the cliff’s edge. Christopher, Ty, and Stephen soon landed beside him.

“Where . . . where did it go?” Christopher asked, slightly out of breath.

Christopher looked at Ty and their eyes met, Ty’s revealing anger, worry, and fear.

            “I don’t know,” Van whispered.

They looked out, across the valley beyond the cliffs, across the great divide, hoping they would see something.

            But they saw nothing.

                Nothing at all.
